Tailstocks like the Haas rotary the workpiece during machining operations. They are commonly used when machining long and slender components that require extra support to minimize deflection and ensure accurate machining.
The tailstock is typically positioned on the opposite end of the workpiece from the machining center’s spindle. It consists of a base that is securely attached to the machine’s table or bed, and a movable quill that can be extended or retracted as needed. The quill of the tailstock is aligned with the centerline of the workpiece, providing a point of contact and support.
Tailstocks for VMCs like the Haas rotary tailstock offer several advantages.
